==Biography==
As a junior in college, Vicki Courtney was a self-proclaimed agnostic and feminist, who strongly opposed Christianity.〔 At the same time, she struggled against an eating disorder and was experiencing guilt after an abortion.〔http://www.baptistpress.org/bpnews.asp?id=5469 Baptist Press: “Courtney takes message of hope, forgiveness to women on university campuses”〕 Still, she agreed to go to a Christian conference with a friend. It was there that she became a Christian. Today Vicki resides in Austin, Texas, with her husband, Keith and three children: Hayden (high school), Ryan and Paige (both in college)
Courtney began her speaking ministry in 1995 and then developed Virtuous Reality
Ministries in 1998. Initially her ministry was geared toward college women, but when they began telling her they wished they had heard her message sooner, she began including younger girls in her ministry audience. Today her national ministry’s website, resources, and events reach over 150,000 teenagers and mothers each year.〔http://www.phenixpublicity.com/2007_div_press/bio_release.php?book_id=237 Phenix & Phenix Literary Publicists AP Press Release〕 Courtney’s 2005 ''TeenVirtue'' project won the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association Medallion of Excellence.〔http://www.bhpublishinggroup.com/article.asp?article=69 B&H Publishing Group: “Vicki Courtney's TeenVirtue wins ECPA Christian Book Award”〕
In 2000, Courtney launched her online Virtuous Reality magazine for college women and later expanded it to reach middle school and high school girls and mothers. Courtney’s You and Your Girl mother/daughter events, hosted by LifeWay Christian Resources, focus on the keys to helping young women be confident and resist cultural pressures against purity and modesty. Her website Virtue Alert is designed to give mothers a quick look at current issues that they may face with their teenagers and strategies for how to address them.
